About the BCEM
The BC Education Marketplace (“BCEM”) is a K-12 public school districts initiative, partnering with the Ministry of Education. BCEM services include the establishment of shared contracts for select goods and services as well as serving as a resource for districts regarding best practices in the area of procurement. The goal of the initiative is to deliver cost and administrative savings to the sector that can be reinvested in student education.
For our collaborative procurement projects, the BCEM partners with school district subject matter experts representing all regions of the province. Teams formed for specific projects research, develop and execute collaborative procurement strategies for specific commodities. The project structure ensures that contracts developed for the sector deliver to individual districts the right products, on schedule and for the best value.
The BCEM is governed by the Procurement Steering Committee which is responsible for providing oversight for both strategic direction and operations. The Steering Committee, with representation from each BCASBO Zone, oversees the activities of the BCEM to ensure that the entity is accountable and provides value to the sector.
The Procurement Steering Committee Zone Representatives are:
Fraser Valley, Metro & South Coast: Flavia Coughlan (Chair), Secretary-Treasurer, School District No. 42 (Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows)
Kootenay, Boundary: Natalie Verigin, Secretary-Treasurer, School District No. 20 (Kootenay/Columbia)
North Coast, Northern Interior: Cam McIntrye, Secretary-Treasurer, School District No. 52 (Prince Rupert)

The BCEM acknowledges and is grateful to our partners in all 60 BC K-12 Public School Districts, the Ministry of Education and the BC Association of School Business Officials (BCASBO) for their ongoing support of this initiative.
